Is the tattoo to prove that she was spayed? Interesting idea!
Zoomie, that's exactly it, it stops the unscrupulous from selling a cat as entire when it’s not (hard to tell with girl cats) and it also stops people stealing pedigree cats from their gardens and such, if what they want them for is backyard breeding. And of course it gives the cat street cred with all the cool cats.
