Not sure on the liquid amino... I take amino acids in tablet form, so this could just be the liquid form... Typically they are used by BodyBuilders to help increase muscle growth, or Scrawny Programmers like myself who have grown tired of pasty white, skinny arms.

Tater-Tots are perhaps the greatest thing I was introduced to when I came over to the States... Kind of hard to describe, but I think they are most like little mini hashbrowns. They come in a spherical shape about an inch long and about 1/2 inch in diameter.

Wikipedia has a pretty good entry on them, which includes a picture.

I guess they are called Potato Gems down under, but I'm not sure if I ever heard of them when I lived in New Zealand.

Tater Tots are why kids ate in the 60s. Oh, no. Not "what" kids ate. WHY kids ate.

Liquid aminos? Some hippy shit, I guess.

Liquid aminos? No clue.

Tater tots? The yummiest damn comfort food ever. Urban Koda pretty much summed it up.

You can still get Potato Gems at Tiffany's in Rose Bay. You've been able to get them there for 40 years, though I don't recall the guy running the store as being Chinese when I was little.

Ta all. Ok, tater tots/potato gems, I like the sound of those. The humble spud is one of my favourite foods after all, in just about any form. But I googled Liquid Amino, it's liquid protein concentrate - yuck! I'll be sticking with traditional MEAT for my protein.

ohhhh. tater tots are like pomme noisettes only sometimes they are in a crispy kind of breadcrumb batter type substance. they are potatey and fluffy on the inside, crisp on the outside. they are wierd. me much prefer pomme noisettes au naturelle, just with a little butter. but no. here, everything is battered & deep fried to within an inch of its life.

as for liquid ammo - i think it is a drink just like red bull. an energy drink. i have vague memories of seeing it in the fridge at safeway recently thinking "WTF?"

altho. i may be wrong.

i have been wrong before you know.

i think that was in 1983.

I reckon liquid amino looks like liquid MSG... explains a lot about that poor family

Ms Brown Mouse said...

Erk, Cosy, not MSG - clearly some sort of stimulant, what they really need is potassium bromide sprinkled in their tea.

Just found this on Liquid Amino... I wonder if it's something like Bovril or Vegemite, just a lot more liquidy...

I'm thinking Bragg needs to hire a new marketing person, as the description provided just did not make me want to try it... And I am really hungry right now too.
