Brutto ma Buono ...

... Ugly but Good, what a fabulous phrase and so true of so many of the good things in life. I mean really, who ever looked as a potato and found it beautiful? But my oh my, the potato is a very good thing indeed. Some other things I'd class as brutto ma buono, to name but a few, are:

• Bean soups, like, for instance, the borlotti bean & spinach soup I've got planned for tonight's dinner;
• My green lumpy cardigan, called the toad skin, but it's soft and warm like a big green hug;
• Jean Reno; and
• Mussels, most shellfish in fact, once removed from their shells.
