Knit o Rhama

In which I show off.
... Ok so I went to a knitting class not all that long ago. But, I'm afraid I came over all Nintendo Generation with my planned project - it got boring after I'd completed 1 square - so I tossed it in and started looking for something more immediate and gratifying (I am pure evil after all).
Lucky for me a lovely woman I work with lent me a book called Exquisite Little Knits and from its pages I created THIS! Finished it on Sunday afternoon.
I am pleased as punch I must say - I know it's probably considered the equivalent of finger painting by real knitters, but for a first try at actually knitting a real live useful thing, I'm well chuffed.
I knitted (knat?) it for Mr Brown (blue to match his eyes) but it turned out a tad small for his big pumpkin head (actually he said he needed a hat to cover his ears). So, I cast on again, 64 stitches (thatÂ’s a lot) and started knitting a bigger one with the wool that I'd intended for me (green to match MY eyes).
Second time around took a lot less time and voila! A green, ear-covering, hat for Mr Brown. He wore it all afternoon & it remained on his noggin all evening time. He may be afraid to take it off, I told him each stitch was a little kiss for his head!
Now all I have to do is work out how to get rid of all the cat hair, Small & Ping fur has been knitted into both., they like to sit in my lap during the creative process. I may have to seek the advice of Wendy.

On a serious note, I note the death sentence passed on Mr Saddam Hussein. Now, I acknowledge he was a bad man (to put it mildly) who did some terrible things. But I was horrified while watching the news this evening to see people (George W Bush & John W Howard to name but 2) expressing joy, celebrating even, at the news.
When it comes down to the pure essence of the thing, they are saying it is a good thing that another human being is going to be deliberately put to death - he will he hung up by his neck until he strangles to death. How is this civilised? That's all I ask.

Bravo on the knitting front - have you considered doing mittens for your kittens? (well, cats - but you know what i mean) it would keep their little pawsies warm ?

As for the Saddam thing. Words fail me. I'm with you - he was a wicked, evil man who ran a totally oppressive regime but WTF? Hang him? Why not go the whole hog and invite GWB and John Dubbya to witness such a public hanging like the old days? Then they could clap and cheer OUT LOUD instead of making polite statements to the fucking press about how pleased they are. I am so mad about this. The whole catastrophe defies explanation.

Mittens for kittens? Hmmm, mebe but I was more of a mind to knit socks for moi - I may have to do another class before I attempt that.
As for the other thing -
Not much to say really is there - why don't they parade him through the street first, so people can throw rotten fruit at him?

Stones. They'd throw stones at him just like the old days. The women would wail and the press would photography every shot and milk the most out of it. It is very cross making.
