Odd ...

... The New Zealand finance workers' union blog - The Gossip - has used my picture of the possumm we found in the tree at the front of the house as an illustration - of Campaigns Director, Andrew Campbell!

Hmm,

Perhaps I need to own up. Possums are one of those Australian imports that don't go down so well in NZ. They savage our environment and eat all the native plants. So, the photo was meant to be an allusion to all the Australian banks operating in NZ rather than to poor old Andrew Campbell, who is not at all possum like. Oh, and thanks again for letting us use the photo - it's great.

It's good to see more Aussie exports causing mayhem in the South Pacific.

I'm not sure if I should confess this - but last time Mr Brown & I were in NZ I purchased the peelings of a possom, to wear as a collar on a coat, a fur ruff I believe it is called. Also - several pairs of possom socks, they keep our tootsies warm all winter!

Possum peelings? Dear god, what possessed you?! B has a possum jumper, all very soft & all, but it creeps me out.

I figured they are a pest in NZ, like rabbits here in Oz, so it was ok. It's lovely & soft & the cats love it.
