Thirsty bees ...

... I was bringing in the washing and some harvested tomatoes this very, very hot afternoon and I noticed a honey bee hovering over the water lily pot. He landed on some of the floaty weed, stayed a bit, shook his be(e)hind and flew off. Could he be drinking? A google search indicated yes.
Since I don't generally take the camera out to bring in washing, I've borrowed these.Photo thanks to ... Photo thanks to ...

End of Movember ...

... no, I've not spelled it incorrectly, Movember. Mr Brown grew himself some mustaches, as you can see (the pic was taken about half-way through). And he's raised sufficient sponsorship $$ to be in the running for a shiny new ute. I have suffered through this hirsute month, not completely uncomplainingly. I hate the Mo, it makes him look like a biker-themed 70s porn star. That, or an underworld hitman (especially when he puts on dark glasses). He's promised to remove the thing this very evening, so harmony & love'n can return to the Brown-Mouse house.
Oh, it's also the end of NaBloPoMo (thank goodness). I've looked and counted and yes, I posted at least once a day for the whole of November. To celebrate, November's WordCloud.
And one more thing. I love this clock. Go watch it do its stuff.

21 October 2007 ...

... is a Wednesday, so we had pizza - guess what kind if you can. It is also All Hallows Eve, and although the cultural anti-imperialist in me simply hates me for caving, my not wanting to be the "grumpy old lady at the end of the street" (peer pressure for the middle aged) won over and I handed over lollies to the little boys from next door (who said thank you) and the greedy little girl who lives at the end of the street (who snatched and grabbed more than anyone else and did not say thank you). I'll live, the little boys made me laugh and while the front door was open a DOG just walked right on in!!! Ping & Small were suitably horrified, fluffy tails all round.
Oh, and this, I guess it proves he's human after all (bugger it).
Oh, and here's the October WordCloud.

Spring has sprung ...

... today, according to the calendar, is the first day of Spring! Hooray.Of course, I don't actually count it as Spring until the equinox but the days are warm, the evenings balmy, flowers are bursting out all over the place, bebe leaves are pushing their way out into the sunlight and I've been in a ridiculously good mood for a WHOLE WEEK - even though I've been back at work. At first I put it down to delight in being healthy and snot free at last, but I keep finding myself humming little songs, and not getting worked up by stuff that would usually have me all cross, and grinning like a loon. It's got to be Spring fever - long may it last!Oh, and here's August's WordCloud.

$5 haircut ...

... I got a $5 haircut today which is something I thought only boys could get. It was just a fringe trim really, it was starting to get in my eyes and curl in a very 1950s sort of way at the edges.
It's fine, there was none of the usual shampoo, blow drying farnarckling about, and it only took 10 minutes. Bonus and Bargain!
There's a football game on at the Leichhardt Oval tonight which means
(a) Mr Brown won't be able to find a park when he eventually decides to come home, and
(b) I got to walk all the way home behind 3 Welsh boyos who chatted about football, beer and what they did at the weekend in lovely burbling Welsh accents.
I wasn't really listening to what they said, it was just the accents. I love the Welsh accent, it's so friendly & cheery and it's the only reason I watch that dreadful Dr Who spin off, Torchwood, because it's set in Cardiff and employs just about every bit-playing actor in Wales.
Oh, and mustn't forget the July WordCloud.

Blue Moon ...

... I’m a big fan of the moon, it's my favouite thing in the sky. S0 I'm a little (nerdily) excited because tonight there will be a full moon, the second one for June, a blue moon.A picture of the Moon made to look blue, image & image fiddling thanks to Nick Lomb
In honour of this rare event (there isn’t another until 30 March 2010), I’m adding a new linkie to my Interesting & Possibly Useful Stuff thingo, a moon phase calendar.

And, because it's the last day of the month, the June 2007 WordCloud.

Edited to add - There she is in her full moon glory - so bright that I got one of those "bright spots" in my eye after staring up.

A tiny death ...

... Mr Brown woke me at 3 minutes to midnight last night, to let me know one of the little golden fish died. No marks on the body, but we are assuming it's the one that kept cramming itself into the filter pipes. Mr Brown buried it in the garden.
Farewell little fish.
