Froggy update ...

... they disappeared, the tadpoles.
I'm hoping they grew legs and hopped away in a matter of days, but I suspect not.
Last weekend Mr Brown & I went out to make them some more room in the pond their parents chose. We'd planned to carefully remove the plant and cut away a chunk of the root ball, leaving them with more room to grow & swim. But the taddies weren't there.
We'd been vigilant about topping up the water every day, but that was generally at night, when we couldn't see much. So who knows how long they'd been gone.
I do hope nothing ate them.
Still, we did the trim anyway, since the plant was due for it, topped up the water and wandered, sadly, back inside.
This morning, after angrily confronting selfish dog owners outside the markets (not something I generally do, but 10 minutes of near-constant, high-pitched barking drove me to it) I wandered out back for some calm time.
Mr Brown suggested I take a look at the "frog bowl". Looks like some loved-up frogs have been busy in the garden.Happy.

Nature is too hard. I'd try rigging a net over it, but I'm such a Disney princess in the forest.

Cookie, I've considered the net thing but if we'd done that then the parents couln't have got in to lay this next lot. Nature is hard, damnit.

That is awesome about the new frog eggs, but I'd like to know more about what you said to the stupid dog-owners....

Stomper, I may have come across a little unhinged to the horrid dog owners, I had a migraine and each bark (of lovely dog tied up and left while they marketed and sipped lattes) felt like an icepick through my left eye socket. I was not in the slightest bit calm or even reasonable. I may even have threatened to call the RSPCA. Not my finest moment but my wordy I was very cross.

Can't stand yapping dogs, me. Did the owners cop it sweet or ark up?

O Stomper, they did not cop it sweet at all, it was all "we were only 5 minutes" (bollocks, I was with the dog for at least that) and "so, a dog's not allowed to bark then?" I'm afraid it got a bit shouty and ugly. But I have a plan. If they do it again next week I'm feeding the dog a shit load of fatty treats, so they can see me, and let them know I'll keep doing it when ever the dog's left alone like that! hahahahahaha! I will win!

Maybe they did become little frogs and hopped off, and then they came back and laid more eggs?

I'm so glad there are additional froggies in the garden - need photos of their development, too! I hope Poss didn't dine on the first ones.

Zoomie, goodness knows what happened to the last lot, perhas E is right and they just grew fast and hopped away.
