Are the Brown-Mouse House cats normal?

... well, according to this, probably.
Actually, our girls don't drink out of the toilet. They do, however, lap up the water that's left on the shower floor, once we step out.
Small did it, Ping does it and now, Tigger does it too. She shoulders her way into the bathroom, says hello and into the shower she goes, lappity lap. Then, a quick run round the legs and she leaves, slightly damp.
I don't know if she watched Ping and decided to give it a go and liked it or it's just something cats do.
Mr Brown thinks it's because they like a little human flavouring in their water and we should stop letting them sleep with us.

My many cats always did like really, really fresh water. If it had been in the bowl for a day, it was stale to them, so I'd often find them lapping water from a dripping tap or drinking the last little bit from the bottom of the sink.

Sometimes I think pets do things because they're convinced they have to.
"Cripes, you're leaving a puddle in the shower again! I gotta do everything around here?"

What have you done with Morgan? I know your address.

Dear Ms. Brown-Mouse,

You have a DELIGHTFUL blog! I am now following you in the hopes that I shall discover more about the case of the missing lemons.

The NERVE!! Can't believe someone just up and stole 'em on you so I'm holding out for a happy ending somewhere down the road wherein you discover your possum has babies who are suffering severely from rickets and in a desperate bid to save her hairless possum children from malformed bones, she crept into your garden at night and did the dirty deed herself. And the lemons helped. And everyone lived happily ever after. The End.

Cheers, Ro

P.S. I have cats that like to drink left-over shower water too. Thanks to Mr. Brown's suspicious mind, I shall now be looking askance at them forever more!

Zoomie, my mum's cats, when I was growing up, always, always drank from the fish tank, fish water we called it and had to top up the tank daily. They never touched the tank fish. One cat, Ting, however, used to wade into the fish POND and catch fishes.
Cookie, now there's an idea. If only I could get them to do something useful :)
As for MORGAN, I removed her so folk peering over my shoulder (so fucking rude) wouldn't get any ideas of visiting.

Ro,
Excellent lemon story, soothing to my enraged heart. Thanks.

All I can think off is left-over shower water - all ours goes down the plug-hole.... hey ho!

Roo, our old house has not a square like or level floor anywhere, it's part of it's charm :)

I had one cat, ages ago, who liked to be right at the edge of the shower and sort of dare himself to dart in and dart out again while I showered!
But I haven't had any shower-drinker-uppers.
;o)

Lee, Small used to sit on the edge of the bath and keep me company. She'd always pat bubbles too, but all our cats avoid the dreaded showering shower!
