Zoomie, she's very fast but, lucky for the skinks, has a nice soft mouth. If I get to them fast enough they generally get away hole free. Cookie, I do, and he is ;)
When I had cats, I always kept pairs of rolled-up socks on the outdoor table to throw at them when they had caught a bird or a chipmunk - the socks don't hurt them but they make them crouch down so I could catch them and open their jaws to free to critters. Otherwise, the cats would run away with their catch. Most times, the critters ran or flew free.

Did she catch whatever it was she was hunting?
Hmm I can't remember if she got that exact one, but I think I rescued 3 skinks that particular day.

Zoomie, lately I've been flinging the possum's apricot stones!
