... but I scored a spiffy new pair of shorts today. I found them on the bedroom floor, where they should NOT have been left. So I tried them on. BINGO - perfect fit, perfect length (just past the knee bone), well-placed pockets and cute pin-striping. Since I had talked Mr Brown into them the other weekend anyway, he didn't seem to mind my appropriating them.
This lead me to remembering my first boyfriend, and how I used to 'borrow' his Harrys* - some form of khaki work short with many pockets, named so because Harry Butler used to wear them. In the end I had to go out and buy my own pair, from an army disposal store, I wore those shorts for years.
What is it about boy shorts? Why can't girl shorts be as comfortable?
And so, while out in my new duds this song** came over the speakers in the fruit and veg emporium.
So spiffy did I feel that I broke into a spontaneous little dance before the pre-sliced cheese display. I suspect I may have been channeling Jimmy Somerville, Mr Brown looked aghast and declared the short pants mine forever.
*I've googled like crazy but can't find a good, representative picture.
** An excellent chair-dancing tune imho.

Your Twitter progression was a stitch!
Back in my college days I lived in a baseball shirt and a coordinating pair of shorts. The baseball shirt was raglan sleeved with green sleeves and a white body. It was deliciously comfortable - as were the shorts (navy blue with green trim)!

But from whom did you "borrow" them Lee? Hmmmm?

Sadly, boy shorts never work for me, the waist/hip ratio is off. I guess it means I'm curvy, but I'd rather have tighter hips.
E - these sit on my hips, if I wanted them to go around my waist it wouldn't work. I'm not tube shaped either ;)
When I bought my sister's record player from her in Junior High, I also got all of her records including this song. It's great!
gatsby - it's quite the dance toon eh?
