... I cannot recommend highly enough Maggie Beer's Burnt Fig Jam, Honeycomb and Caramel Ice Cream.
She calls it "an ice cream for grown ups" and I suspect I probably wouldn't have liked it as a kiddie, I blush to remember I was a fan of the vast, 5-litre tub style, highly-artificially coloured and flavoured "Neapolitan" ice cream (not the "vanilla" stripe though).
Tastes mature, thank goodness, and Maggie's intense flavour treat was a cooling, cheering mood enhancer over the past couple of days. Although ownership rights over the last spoonful caused some harsh words in the Brown-Mouse house last night.
If you get the chance, try it, you'll not regret it. And if you don't live in Australia, you might see if you can get your paws on a jar of her burnt fig jam to stir into your own ice cream, it won't be exactly the same but it will be very, very good indeed.

So i did a search of Maggie's site and found a little deli about 20 mins away that stocks it. I drove there with much anticipation and...the bastards had sold out! jesus wept. anyway they should have some more on Mnday.
S - not wanting to make your head explode with jealousy or anything but guess who has 2 tubs in her freezer right now????? Oh yeah, ME!
