... s0, remember way back in May 2006 I went to work somewhere else for 12 months? A non-permanent promotion, or secondment in Public Service speak. Well, I'm still there, signed on until November this year in fact.
But, on Monday I'm going back to my old place of work, though not my old job. It's another sort of promotion thingy & a favour to my old boss (of whom I'm very fond - which is lucky for her because it's a scary policy-type of job that fills me with unholy terror). I'm promised it's only for 2 months.
It's a good thing in a way because:
a) I'm in a bit of a rut and the change may jolt me out of it;
b) in mid-December my area moved down to the Central Station / Haymarket end of town. It's vile, nasty, dirty and just plain icky. Though, if you like Asian food in all its varieties, the eating's good. And there's no bookshops;
c) The new job is back up near the nice end of town, with loads of bookshops;
d) I'll have a decent walk to and from work again, a necessary evil; and
e) although I'll miss quite a few of the people I've been working with, it will also be good to work with some old mates again.

This is very exciting!! Good news - bravo to you for taking on this new challenge :) Make sure your glowmesh armour is well polished. I will be sending you all the best possible thoughts and vibes :)
Gads, I bet you're looking forward to browsing Dymocks again and swapping the prospect of boiled chicken feet for lunch for something a slightly more appealing to the western palate.
CAW - the food was really the only highlight of working down here - Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Vietmanese, all good, but now and then a girl just wants a sandwich!
Ta for the wishes.
