Possible mid-life crisis ...

... so, remember I was wondering what I could buy, taking advantage to the relatively high exchange rate?
So yes, I got a few books, complete with American spelling (blah) but a recent tour of YouTube blasted me into my past and I've ordered ever CD I could find for Dexys Midnight Runners. I've not been able to listen for, ooh about 100 years, as I've only records and no player. Now I'll have the CDs and be able to relive my youth, or something.
Yes, yes, I know they sang Come on Eileen (and I loved it so there, most excellent chair dancing song). But they also did Geno, This is What She’s Like, My National Pride, and Listen to This. AND Celtic Soul Brothers (but I couldn't find a good vid).
I did so love that band. Are they as good as I remember? Well, I thinks so and I'm getting ready to rekindle that little romance.
It was my mum's birthday this week, so we are off for a visit (and a mum cooked lunch - blush). But I made her some small, buttery birthday thoughts, aka Langues de Chat.

It's not a crisis: it's a celebration.

Ilva - you need to find a gramaphone for your records ;o)

I saw Dexys live three times, although "Come on Eileen" may be the death of me, if I ever have to dance to it again!

DMM - did you curl your Langues de Chats around a wodden spoon so they curl lengthways like a cats tongue does? It was a trick I was taught at college ;o)

or a wooden spoon, if you can't find a wodden one

hehe, Eileen is a little hard on the knees these days.
I've never done the spoon trick (wooden or wodden) but will give it a go next time - tis a little like making brandy snaps I'm guessing.
