Who amongst us …

… has not thought, when standing around at an “event” or function, when the waitpersons come around bearing trays of delicious nibbles and tasty things on sticks, who amongst us has not thought “thank you, now leave the tray”? (ok so my favourite Rainer Wolfcastle quote isn’t here but what the hey).
So, speaking of food, tonight I made cannelloni only not with pasta tubes, because they are a bastard to fill (well, ok, not so much as I use a icing bag, but I HATE cleaning out the icing bag). And not with fresh pasta because it’s a week night and who gets out the pasta machine on a week night? (I DON'T want to know if you do!) So I used crepes.
Now you may be thinking “who could be arsed making crepes on a weeknight?" But it’s not that big an effort and standing over a hot stove certainly warms you up after you’ve walked home in the freezing cold rain! (I’m officially over the rain now). Filled em with weed pie filling (aka Spanakopita – but I can’t pronounce it so we call it weed pie in the Brown-Mouse house) only with walnuts added for crunch. Baked em in a lovely rich tomato sauce (with cheese sprinkled on top by Mr Brown, who I swear is trying to give me a heart attack) and there was just enough for delicious leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Great. Now I'm hungry. And it's only 9am. Thanks. And nice work, by the way!

Hearty applause! That looks (and sounds) extra, extra special.

oh god you are so right - why does buffet food suddenly make you think you have three stomachs??

Explain weed pie filling, as my thoughts are erring to the worst...

Weed pie is fetta, ricotta, spinach, maybe silverbeet, lemon zest & juice, cackleberries parsley, chives, mint, oregano, marjoram – whatever “weeds” you have really.
You could put that special weed in I suppose but I've found it particularly vile to taste.
