... Biscuits - this morning I woke with a yen for them, an urge to bake & eat them. But do you think I could find a recipe??
Well, clearly, I did,

but it certainly took a while to find one. I trawled through all the many many cookbooks on the cookbook shelf and found nothing.

I'd resigned myself to using
one from Leite's Culinaria which is fine but American and so the measurements are always a bit iffy, conversion fiddly & irritating. Still I printed it out and was ready to go when I suddenly remembered why I was craving peanut butter biscuits.

It's because I'd spent a goodly part of my long weekend last weekend flicking through my Vogue Entertaining collection (
I've been collecting since 1990).

I leapt on the compilations and low & behold in the 1994/95 version, on page 89, there it was. Called cookies but I refuse to. The Hyatt's version no less, how posh!
And they are delicious, crumbly, peanutty, buttery, mmmmmmm. Just what a dancing mouse needed.
Of course I added 1/2 a teaspoon of salt because peanuts & salt are like fish & chips (
meant to be) and it calls for piping - but honestly, who could be buggered? (
if you've ever cleaned out a piping bag you wouldn't be keen either) I think they turned out just fine & dandy & I'm sure Mr Brown will too, when he returns from the sea.
