Day 6 ...

... Yesterday, while the rest of the household went and did things to boats (including dropping one on the head of a gentleman friend, leading to his introduction to the Italian health service), Rupert & I went for a walk along the shoreline of Lake Garda.
I played a spot of "which lake-side villa would I live in" (I couldn't make up my mind) and a spot of "what I'd do it THAT was my garden" (the locals don't do much with their gardens and seem quite limited in their plant choice. There may well be a reason for this of course).
We spotted some lovely waterfowl and an adroable lizard, green with almost blue spots. I gazed and gazed at the scenery, ate two more gelato flavours (lime and some melon) as part of my self-imposed task to try every flavour (except banana, yuck) and boggled at sun-bathing Europeans, Germans mostly, judging by the talk. Goodness me, these people BAKE until they are mahogany! Have they never heard of Melanoma??
Anyway, there's 40 or so happy snaps to peruse if it takes your fancy.

LOVE the fanciful scrolling fence! All so beautiful. Don't worry about the Germans - once they get home, they will get no additional sunlight, so it all evens out. :-)

Zoomie, there's dozens and dozens of gardens, hidden behind walls and gates. I love them :)
(ps, I was a little worried about the Germans - they are brigh red or deeply tanned, it cannot be good for them.)

Cookie, I'm rather taken with the Villa Alba across the water, in Gardone Riviera.
Lee, it's all just so very different from home.

Very nice, once again. Did you get a bicycle and go along the shore?
