Today I stayed home ...

... with these. Not sick, other than sick of work, but who isn't? No, no, I organised a day off to potter and not do stuff and do other stuff.
I read a little Shirley Jackson.
I folded sheets with great difficulty (it's a little like trying to make the bed, only a lot harder, not only because there were 2 "assistants").
I made a new version of weed pie.
Feeling a trifle out of sorts, but I'm sure going to LambFest, tomorrow will put that to rights.

Good for you!
"Assistants" can be so, umm, charming - yes charming. I'll stick with charming!
;o)

Lee, yes, charming they are, and one of them is very bitey!

I need a day off like that! Preferably on a school day though...

Sue, that's essential!

I had forgotten about the "assistants" with bed making and sheet folding. Every single one of my cats over the years have been helpful in that very same way.

I briefly knew Shirley Jackson's son, Laurence. What a mess.

Zoomie, we make the folding a game, mostly, but I was doing it on my own yesterday, it took a long, long time.
Cookie, Laurie?? As in her stories? Ooo, but do explain the "mess" bit please :)

Yes, Laurie. He worked for a failing book publishing company and was *probably* into substance abuse; he always looked red and shaggy. He was mean and litigious and invented funny ways of locking his office door so nobody could get in. He even left rubber snakes in there, because the owner was deathly afraid of snakes. I suspect having Shirley Jackson for a mother is hard on the kid. And being called "Laurie."

So, mad as a cut snake then?
Kids of the famed generally do seem to have a harder time of it.

Yeah. I was crushed to learn that Christopher Robin did Not Like having been written about, at all.
Oh, and do you know the comic strip Dennis the Menace? There was a real Dennis, and he went crazy and left home and disappeared.
