Something else to fret & worry about ...

... the shrieking alerts you to their arrival. My goodness but they are loud, our local cockatoos.Since Rupert was out in the garden with me, hoping Mrs Poss would turn up with bebe poss outside the pouch (she didn't, he's still tucked away in there) I snapped a few pics. One of them appeared to have something in his beak. I snapped a few more pics. That something was actually his beak, it's horribly deformed. So, I hit google, and can't find anything like it. There's plenty about psittacine beak and feather disease but I don't think that's it. His feathers look great and he looks quite healthy.
Perhaps he's simply deformed and just gets on with it.
Still, I worry.

Really, no need to worry unless he was someone's pet who escaped, because he's in beautiful shape. He's clearly finding something lovely to eat. He's probably getting more sympathy and more handouts because of his unusual beak. :-) What wonderful clowns those cockatoos are! And beautiful as well.

Look for a band on his leg, which might indicate he's an escape who should be netted and returned to captivity if he can't forage on his own.

Zoomie, I know but I worry nonetheless :) I don't actually get close enough to see his little legs, if not for Rupert's zoom lens I'd not even know about his funny beak! They are clowns though, pretty clowns.
