... to pop down to Canberra yesterday to make up for the last time, to see the pretty pictures that are visiting all the way from France. We didn't make it, Mr Brown was compelled to go to work.
BUT we wandered down today instead.
AND YET we did not see the pretty French pictures. No, because we turned up and found that after queuing for tickets you then had to join another queue for at least ONE AND A HALF HOURS before you could actually see the bloody things.
I don't do queues, there is little worth queuing for more than 10 minutes for, seriously, think about it. I can come up with two things I'll queue for (1) FOOD, if I'm really, really, really hungry, and (2) the loo, if I need a wee so bad it hurts. Otherwise, nope.
Still, rumour was if we came back "after 2pm" the "queue would be better". So, we wandered off for lunch, bought a nice new fountain thingy for the garden and some Hellebores (double pink spotted, yellow and slate grey!). We wandered back after 2pm, the queue was WORSE, it was a shocker. No way were we going to join it, wait and then be rushed through with the crowds and get no where near the pictures. So we left, did a little pottering, did a little shopping, visited Mr Brown's less-evil sister and picked up some "stuff", and came home and ate Borek for dinner.
THE END

Did you try to get your money back? How frustrating.
mmmmmm borek.... yummy eastern european goodness
:))))
;)
I am hoping you got your money back. Or did you have to stand in another long line?
Since we hate, hate, hate standing in line; we go to theme parks in the fall and spring when the kids are in school and voila, no lines!

I'm jealous - we are getting the Impressionists from the Musée D'Orsay while it's being renovated, but I'd rather have had your lot to drool over for a year or so.
Pity about not seeing the exhibit!
I can't disagree about queuing up.
Although we mostly call it standing in line - or, in some regions, standing on line.
;o)

P.S. Re: S&D - I didn't know one was better than the other. In my mind they are emotionally and darn near physically conjoined!
M & Susan - we refused to stand in ANY of the queues, so we didn't get a ticket!
Winks, yep, 2 kinds and then walnut pastries in this amazing syrup, made up for all sorts of things.
Zoomie, Mr B & I decided we will visit the art in it's native land, one day!
Lee, we stand in line too, but queue for preference - I think it's a pommy thing. As for S&D OVER THEM!
Melissa, I'm neither a mom or a giveaway site, so no, I won't, sorry.
