Why the Brown Mouse House smells so nice ...

... because my little sister, S, organised flowers from the family. Flowers with "an oriental feel" were called for, as the venerable Siamese, Small, had died.
She was worried about them being delivered to the empty house but nixed our mum's suggestion to have them delivered to work.Good thinking, I'm not sure how messy that would have been, but it would have been messy. The most divine tuberoses, with a hint of pink about them in a certain light.
And, of course, gorgeous white oriental lilys. The pollen not only dusts the petals, but if you get it on your clothes, makes for a most-excellent saffron substitute.
Small's grave, dug in the pouring rain, was lined with lavender and pretty purple/blue daisies. We also sprinkled her with the last of the gardenias.

What a perfect sister, what a lovely family.

Thank you for sharing how you buried Small. I dared not ask. It sounds just right. And it reminds me of sad days here on our land.

i have wet eyes.
I'm glad you like them, and they smell good, and that they are just what I asked for x

Lee, she's under the passionfruit, in one of her sunning spots. I say "hello Small" when I pass to feed the possum or water the tomatoes.
I do hope the sad times is not an ER.
S, me too, and they really are just lovely, whenever the breeze goes whoosh, the most wonderful smell whafts through the room.

That scent is Small's spirit thanking you for all those years of loving care.

Neat - we have Bobster under the board walk in the hedgerow, as he was always sneaking under it and coming up looking like he was camouflaged, and it was one of his sunny spots ;o) We say hi when we pass.

I love the scent of Lily's too, your sis has good taste

Small's resting place is in your garden! How very grand.

(rupert's doing some amazing work!)

Zoomie, I should be glad it's not the scent of special cat breath then.
Roo, I like that we can pop them in the garden, somewhere they liked when they were alive. It'll be good for the passionfruit too I suppose. (& Yes, S does have excellent taste).
Cookie, yep, Small and Toogie are both in the garden. We'll NEVER be able to move house now!

No, not any ERs. I was thinking about how all our pets are buried under our crabapple tree. All the graves have daffodils and hostas growing above them.

Lee, that is a relief, sort of. The home I grew up in had all our pets buried in the garden, from mice to dogs, the only one not was my pony. I worry about their graves, now that none of us live there.
I'm considering borage for Small's spot, something sweet smelling in any case.
