The plan for today was ...

... get up early(ish). Have breakfast cooked for us in some cafe or other. Drive to our old home town. Go look at some pretty pictures that are visiting all the way from La Belle France (including Starry, Starry Night *sighs*). Have lunch somewhere nice. Do a little poking about a proper, good plant nursery (me), visit a sister and collect the last of the 'inheritance' (him). Come home.
What actually happened?
Mr Brown ended up having to go to work. I know if he didn't work we'd be poor and sad and I couldn't have frocks galore but still, a day off, once in a blue moon, not too much to ask surely?
So, Ping and I had a girls day at home. We slept in, read a bit. Washed the new sheets. And painted our toenails. Well, I painted mine while she watched. That's not to say Pingu doesn't take care of her toenails.
I'll cook a lovely dinner of chicken with pasta and peas for poor Mr Brown. Generally a weekend sort of dinner but what the hell, I have the time. I may even throw in a couple of lovely, buttery, herb-y dumplings!

Such a letdown, even when you use the time to good advantage. I'm sure Ping liked having an extra day with you - is she pretty lonely now?

Poor Ping is lonely and quite the clingy sad sack when we get home. I worry about her but am keeping the idea of a little sister in 6 weeks at the front of all thinking!

I swear I could smell the basil as soon as I saw that gorgeous shot!
Love the sheets and the hydrangea.
So sorry about the change in plans. Clearly you made the best of it. What's the old WWII poster: Stay Calm & Carry On!

I'm sure Ping really enjoyed having you home, she could use the company. Sorry about the plans going awry, though.

I sleep on red sheets too! They're not technically sheets; they're microfiber duvets. So comfortable and easily washed.

Ping did look sad, but it's sure she won't get a break when the new bebe arrives!

I liked the basil shot too. With the last of our plant, I chopped the leaves up into some soft butter, rolled it in some greaseproof, and froze it. It makes a delicious treat to cut off a slice and serve it on top of a good steak. (RooTips Inc) ;o)

Great tip thanks!

Roo, that's her sad face TM!
I made parsley butter & thyme butter last season, I'll give basil butter a go, I love a good steak enhancement idea!
Lee - I have the Nice Dream about Daniel Craig one too :)

Cookie, sounds just a little too warm for me, 100% cotten is all we can cope with in the summer, else we'd BOIL to death, in our own juices!
