Forgotten photographs ...

... I'd bought Pingu a new bed, Snuggle Pod, as it happens (hey, it matches the couch). It was delivered to Mr Brown's office this very day.
Ping took to it right away, snuggling down like it'd been there all the while.
So, of course I whipped out the happy snappy for a pic or two. Then I downloaded them. Then the tears started.I'd forgotten I'd taken some shots of Small on her last days. The last day we initially expected (and then the vet fucked things up but let's not dwell on that shall we).And the actual last day (which the vet initially totally fucked up, leading to my having to be bossy while weeping on the phone, but we won't hold that against them will we? I'm not bitter).Anyway, I think, I like to think Small's last days,Were spent doing what she loved, snoozing, drinking wild water and being in the garden. Now excuse me, I'm getting the laptop wet again.

I love the photograph of Small's head in profile.
Your summary of how she spent her last days sounds just right.
So glad Ping is enjoying her new SnugglePod.
Hugs from far away...

What gorgeous cats! I love animals, I just hate how much I love them. It's always sad to have to say goodbye to such special friends. My dogs are both 9 (and the one is a Ridgeback, so she's big) and I dread having to let them go. Sorry that Small's ending was a bit of an 'F-up'... remember the good times!

Sue x

PS. Love the snuggle pod, it matches the couch perfectly!

What a lovely girl. Thanks for sharing these. I teared up, too.

Aw, sweet. You have your memories, and these photos too.
About three or four dogs ago, when I realized it was definitely Chili's last day, I made an appointment with the vet. And then I propped Chili on a chair and hoisted his head up for a final picture. He couldn't even hold up his head.
Lucky, lovely Ping.

She really was the most gorgeous puss. I got pretty teary too. I found photos taken of Bertie about 2 weeks after he disappeared and it was HARD to just stumble onto them.

Lee, I do too, it shows her at her most royal and regal best. She was a most elegant pusscat.
Sue, thank you, I think they are too. Try not to think about the end, at least until you can't avoid it. And like me, remember those good times. (we are all pleased with the snuggle pod, esp Ms Ping).
E, I share the tears as well as the laughs I guess :)
Cookie, you've made me cry, poor Chilli, but it is good to have some pics to look back at (thanks to magical digial cameras we have loads)
Stomper, oooh, I'd forgotten about your Bertie, so horribly sad. Why do we let ourselves get so attached to these furry tyrants??? (just kidding, I know why we do, they are lovely)

Just two weeks before he went to heaven, Heartley Boy, my dearest cat ever, caught a bird. He was a terrible hunter and rarely caught _anything_ but I was so happy for him, I didn't even take it away (it was dead anyway), I just let him have his proud day. I'm still happy about that choice. The last days should always be like Small's, doing what she loved best.
