Yesterday ....

... I checked out the tomatoes.
They are coming along slowly, my fault, I planted late. Some are getting quite big, and as they aren't the traditional red type, I'm applying gentle squeezes daily, just to see. The sort of gentle squeezes you'd administer to a, ummm, I'm only coming up with saucy examples, and this isn't that sort of blog. Gentle anyway. The tomatoes the possum planted are, on the other hand, the traditional red, if egg shaped, and are ripening away like little beauties. Fingers crossed I get to pick them before Mrs Possum does. What's that, a smut or smudge on Rupert's lens?Nope, it's the tiniest wee spiderling I think I've ever seen, replete in her little web, complete with Lacy stylings.A little web Mr Brown later hosed away, accidentally, when watering the tomatoes.Still, she's survived to spin another, and for this I am glad.

Roo, I do, I deliberately brush up against the plants all the time. Tomato and the smell of basil, the smell of summer to me.

Fresh, extremely "local" tomatoes make me green with envy. Especially when I think about our "winter pinks" - sigh...
