... is awash with purple. Jacaranda flowers rain down from the tree next door.
They are not insubstantial, these blooms. They have heft, you hear a soft thud as they land on fern leaves.It can be quite discombobulating, to have one land on your head or on your back. Thock and then a tiny dance of fear until you realise it's not some massive, killer insect from the skies. Just a soft, mauve flower. Spent, it's job done.
Beautiful as this purple floral carpet is, I really should sweep the flowers up. They attract bees who sting if stepped upon. They decompose to a brown, slippery slurry. But I won't, I'm a lazy gardener.
