... I've not seen the bebe poss for days and days and days.
Mrs Poss still turns up, at least I think it's Mrs Poss, looking a bit worse for wear.
I'm going to have to do a bit of googling, I'm hoping Hush has just moved on as a grown up, not been killed by a boy possum wanting to have his wicked way with Mrs Poss.
I do hope that's not it.

ohh no..
I did just read that some mummy posses hide their bebes, I am trusting this is so.
The bebe looked very well-grown in your photos; perhaps this is the independence phase of possumhood. Also too heavy to lug around; too big for mum's pouch. ("Don't you dare climb back in there! Don't you even TRY!")
Oh dear.
I so hope that it is as CookieCrumb theorizes.
It's so difficult to interact easily with the "wild" world. We delight in their appearances, revel in our interactions with them, but we must always be one step back from where our heart wants to take us.
Fingers crossed all is well in Possum Land...

maybe it is a boy and he left home for his own patch - they are terribly territorial.
Cookie, I did read something last night which indicated the 'leave home' time was determined by weight rather than age - so maybe. Bebe was clearly WAY too big to get back in the pouch.
Also I saw a smallish poss leaping in the tree above the yard, late in the night. I live in hope.
Lee, yes indeed, so do I.
S, yes, but what if it's a girl??? THEY stay close to home.
I SWEAR if I find out it was Garry the dog next door ... yappy little fucker.
I'm going with the "Bebe Poss is a boy and it's time for independence" theory. The others are too sad to contemplate, especially the yappy little dog theory.
Oh I feel for you!
Hope poss bebe comes home soon. xoxo
