... I learned a couple of things about some of my colleagues yesterday which made me feel very, very old indeed.
* 2 of them did not know that faxes used to be printed on paper that was shiny and came in rolls. You had to rip or cut your individual faxes and threading up a new roll was a complete bastard of a task.
* 1 of them does not remember a time when there were no mobile telephones.
* 1 of them does not remember a time when there were no hole-in-the-wall banks, hence her confusion when I call them "magic banks".
I did not delve further, 'tis not good for the self esteem (though I suspect that the parents of at least 2 actually thought about their self esteem and impacts on it while they were growing up, pfft).

Sigh...
As long as you're going down this road:
"Each August since 1998, Beloit College has released the Beloit College Mindset List. It provides a look at the cultural touchstones that shape the lives of students entering college."
Here's a link to the Class of 2013 Mindset List:

Prepare to feel positively ancient!
;o)
- Lee
wow! that makes even ME feel old..they must be seriously young.
Lee, crapulance, I DO feel ancient now. I'd put money on who'd survive come a techno meltdown though!
S - one of them is 25!!!!!!!!!!!!
That Beloit College thing always amazes me. When I was in college in my 30s, I had a young friend who, when I mentioned where I was when JFK was assassinated, said, "Oh, yeah, I don't remember that even though I was in Dallas. I was two." Coulda strangled her on the spot.
I don't know how to send a text message.
Zoomie, rather reminds me of the friend who was going to an 80s fancy dress party, little bastard.
Cookie, I know how, but I spell out whole words & add punctuation, so it takes too bloody long!
Punctuation! I know how to spell you "u", but I don't know how to dial up text.
But oh, I will. Gettin' them newfangled iPhones.
You're spang on about who would survive a techno-meltdown!
Cookie, I refuse to spell you, U or are R. I would LOVE a new iphone, but not so fabbo on the being a phone thing I hear.
Lee, you and I, we'd know what to do with a pumpkin!
