In praise of a well-stocked 'larder' ...

... and freezer, and garden plot that grows things.
Our first night home, dinner provided by the garden (beans & herbs) and the freezer (fresh pasta) and the larder (cheese, salt, garlic etc).
The second night home, the garden (chard & herbs) and the freezer (minced veal & pork) and the larder (risotto rice, cheese & red wine).
Tonight, Wednesday, will be pizza thanks to the freezer (cheese & smoked chicken), the garden (fresh rockett) and the larder (flour, yeast).
However, we're reaching the end of this thrifty McHousewife thing. There's still an emergency fresh, filled pasta in the freezer, and some lovely Italian snags, o, and a lovely stuffed spatchcock, but I think a trip to the shops for a little hunting & gathering is in order.
Now, to compose my menu for the next week.

Nicely done.

I don't have a garden, I have one pot plant, but I was rather pleased that I was able to make a new, multi-ingredient recipe - Kung Pow Chicken without anything peanut - last night from the contents of my fridge, freezer and pantry.

I love that, when I can scrounge a good meal (or three!) without trips to the store. Also good to rotate those goodies from time to time before they get freezer burn.

Uli, it's a sanity saver, for sure.
Zoomie, o yes, it's important to use & replace, that's what it's there for afterall :)
