I've just been watching the news ...

... 65 dead so far, more expected once they start sifting through the ashes. I burst into tears when I saw a man clutching his cat, Mousetrap, who he came back to find had survived by hiding under a water tank. More weeping when on seeing the bushfire volunteer, resplendent in his bright orange overalls (those blokes are the real deal, fucking heros), rescuing the possum from the molten-hot bitumen road. Again when the man broke down, "I can't do this", while he was interviewed about his friend who died fighting fires in their town.
Words don't really do it, help here if you can.
9 Feb - according to the news it's 108 now.

We have true sympathy for your plight, here in California, where we have destructive wildfires each year. Hang in there.

I am so with you, I'm also in Cali and we have terrible wildfires. I made a donation, and will post the link on my blog, too.

Me too big mouse. 108 confirmed dead this morning; and to think some prick lit some deliberately and then went back and relit ones that had been put out.
