I need an egg & bacon roll, and something fizzy to drink...

... I went out last night, with three lovely girlfriends. We went to the Sofitel Wentworth because they had a very nice “happy hour” deal. We stayed way past happy hour, one of our number charmed the waiter into selling us a bottle of wine “off menu” and we stuffed our faces with some amazingly good bar snacks. Bar snacks are generally a pretty lame deal, thrown together, generally fatty and bla. Not these. Tiny, fresh tomato bruschetta, soft, dainty falafel, crisp, flavourful duck spring rolls, generous servings and beautifully presented.
Still, I’m paying for it this morning, as is Mr Brown who went to some corporate box deal-y to watch a game of football (no, I’ve no idea which code or who played).
I got home, cooked a pork chop like Zoomie, (because it was there, delicious btw) and went to bed. I’ve no idea what time Mr Brown got home, but he was there this morning, demanding glasses of water, so he must have done, sometime!

You cooked that pork chop?
I don't cook when I'm drunky. A bag of roasted peanuts will do fine.
I wish you a less-throbbing head.

Not a peanut in the house. I've done some of my best cooking all merried up!
I remember one xmas, in Darwin, my sister & I cooked up a storm of exotic salads (complete with quail eggs), green curry crocodile and tiny ricotta pancakes (though I'm buggered if I can remember what we put on them) and this magical prawn dish, fueled by cranberry vodka and fizzy wine. The luke-warm swimming pool provided some post-lunch relief I recall :)

Oh, well. I totally understand merriment cooking. Very party-ish. Good things happen.
Green curry crocodile. No shit!

So envious. When I drink, all I do is throw up and then go to sleep. Needless to say, I've given up getting merried up.

Zoomie, please use freely.
S - bacon, ham, crackling, roast pork, I love all the blessed piggie!
Cookie, yep, I've made it a few times since, really very, very good. There are places that will cryo-vac croc meat to your door.
E - poor you, still, you don't end up with the wasted next day ...
