All is NOT right with the world ...

... when the Australian Government personally thwarts me in having one of these tiny, raspberry-sized tortoises of my very own.Pic found via
I may have to leave the country.

I suspect only a goobie bebe but still. I hear you can have tortoises for pets in the UK and the US. I think I'd prefer the UK if I actually WAS to move! They speak my language :)

My sister-in-law has been trying to convince my kids that their two wee tortoises would make great pets for them. I'm just terrified that the youngest of my boys will try and have them race each other down the stairs or something.

No tortoises in Oz? Or are they endangered? This one's awfully cute, isn't it? But, come to the US if you decide to move - we speak a form of English that you could learn quickly. :-)

Uk - best wait for kiddies to grow a bit before giving them pets - if only your sister-in-law could post them to me! I would love them and take care of them and feed them and build them little boxes to sleep away their winters in. Sign, life just isn't fair.

Zoomie,
We have native turtles and terrapins, which are protected species. You can keep them as pets if you have a special license. No native tortoise though, not a single one and Australia is a bit grumpy about introduced species given our past experience with rabbits, foxes, camels, donkeys, goats, pigs, cane toads, the list goes on and on.
Perhaps I’ll satisfy my craving with a visit and a pat!
