I liked this Inaugural Parade. It was such a great mix of military groups, highly polished marching bands and cheesy floats. And we had our fist openly gay band (http://www.gaybands.org/) in the parade! I am so glad that the last eight years are over - not the clean up from those years - but an era with a dearth of honor has ended. ;o) - Lee
We sure do love our parades. And any celebration is a good excuse for a parade. Thanksgiving, Xmas, inaugurations, Halloween, St. Patty's Day, and so on.
Roo - bingo, a friend and I were just discussing yesterday how, for a country that fought a bloody revolutionary war to get rid of a monarchy, our American friends sure so love a coronation ;)
I'm too happy to quibble over the reason for the Revolutionary War. But I will point out that while we kept a bit of pomp we did not keep the circumstance! ;o) - Lee

This year, we had our first civilian marchers, too, Obama's high school band from Punahou School in Honolulu! I love that guy!
We just don't "do" parades, all Australian efforts just pale in comparison.

Now you have to admit folks - we "DO" parades - you can't beat the Houshold Cavalry and the blues and Royals for a bit of pomp ;o)
