... Fence Skinks.
I spotted this one the other day as I was about to open the back door. Up close they are remarkably beautiful. Bright active eyes. Their colouration and scale pattern is subtle, intricate. Each detail is perfect, those tiny toes, not much thicker than a hair strand, but jointed and flexible and very, very "grippy". And I just love seeing the tiny pulse (or heart, who knows?) beating away in the neck. Thumpity, thump.So tiny, so alive.
