Aaaarrrgggg ....
… horrors upon horrors – I woke up this morning with horrid itchy red eyes, as if eczema has taken over both eyes (in very hot weather, and when under undue stress I tend to get a bit of eczema on my top left eyelid but this is unprecedented) and huge fluid-filled bags under them. They ache like they are bruised, look a bit like that too. No other symptoms (just as well) so it’s not some disgusting eye disease or hay-fever. GAH, I feel like poo and look appalling. Something has gone horribly wrong or, I’m suddenly violently allergic to mushrooms.

The fact that they are equally affected strikes me (a total non-medical professional) as encouraging.
Have you tried cool to cold compresses?
Can you take an antihistamine?
Should you see a doctor?
Be well...

Oh my goodness, that sounds unpleasant. Did you figure out what happened?
Lee, my boss sent me out to get some antihistamine, had a chat to the nice chemist, got some pretty pink pills and I also bought myself a nice gel eye mask and will settle down with that asap.
E - pretty much narrowed it down to eczema due to the heat & humidity (that or the cats have been walking on my eyes while I sleep, I wouldn't put it past them). I KNEW I should have been born somewhere more temperate.
talk to a doctor! And keep us posted!
How are you feeling now?

I love the idea of the gel eye mask. Hope it helps.
(Now I'm starting to understand why summer is not your favorite season.)
Ilva & Lee, it's getting better but if it doesn't go away I will indeed visit a quack.
Cookie, it's a lovely soothing thing - and yes, I'm blaming summer *grumbles*.
