Cheating on Mr Brown ...

... yes, it's true, I made that cake for someone other than Mr Brown (birthday girl at work). He caught me sneaking it out the front door this morning and pounced on my baking infidelity.
I think I've got away with it by telling him I'm just testing the recipe on unsuspecting guinea pigs and if it works out, I'll be baking one for him and him alone.

Tasted most fine, by the way.

You see it starts with a simple vitoria sponge, and then you start making up stories to cover for the last slice of devil's food cake disappearing from the fridge overnight, and eventually it just leads to a messy breakup, crumbs all over the place and fighting for custody of the muffin tins...

Somedays the things that go on in my mind worry me.. hey ho ;o)

Roo - it's true. I've already been approached by a gentleman from work wanting a cake of his very own - how on earth am I going to get that out of the house unnoticed???
I feel sordid.

There's only one thing to do:
Bake, bake bake then frost, frost, frost!

BTW, quick thinking about the testing response to Mr. Brown!

P.S. Dear Roo -
I'm worried the stress of planning the upcoming celebration is getting to you!

Lee, frost is something that makes grass crunchy in the wintertime. I suspect you mean ice, ice, ice :)

I stand corrected - and, once again, educated!

Just educated Lee, it's funny though, how both words for the stuff you put on cakes is one for frozen water!

You're kind!

Perhaps because a dusting of powdered sugar looks like a dusting of snow, the ice and frost words took hold?
BTW, we usually think of icing as thinner than frosting.

Lee, not only that, it wasn't even icing on that particular cake, it was a chocolate "glaze", daft eh?!
