... well, I'm the cats' mother, but I don't think that qualifies me for gifts of smelly soap and crushed chocolates on Mothers' Day.
Still, it didn't stop us taking advantage of the local bottle shop's Mothers' Day Special - 6 bottles of a rather nice French Sav Blanc and a bottle of Verve Clicquot Champagne for $99.
And before I get a "what about your mumthen?" comment - She doesn't do Mothers' Day, she says we have to be nice to her EVERY bloody day!

We don't really do it either - this year was my first gift - because it was a kinder project ;)
Hey - where's your favicon ?
I was complaining about this yesterday. Shouldn't every day be a day you are good to your parents? I have three mums so it's very expensive!
H&B - my poor my finally demanded we stop, being festooned with kinder projects (and soap, some of which she recently threw away in the big move).
Ronnie, 3 mums??? that's excessive, how on earth do you manage at other significant times of the year?
I love a good deal at the bottle shop (or as we call them around here, the package store or liquor store).
Being nice to one's parents every day sounds reasonable. My Mom doesn't like a fuss, but a card and phone call are must dos. She did agree to let us take her out to lunch this week though.
;o)

P.S. I still see your favicon...
I'm not a mother, either, but I heard a lovely idea this mother's day. I have two cousins whose mother has gone to heaven and they get together on Mother's Day (neither of them is a mother, either) and have dinner and toast their mother in heaven! I thought it rather sweet.
I'm with you on the not celebrating mother's day thing - so when I tell people this why do they look at me like I just said " I eat babies and kill kittens for fun" ???
Lee, we've been known to ring the day before, or the day after but NEVER on the day itself.
Zoomie, that is a lovely idea, Mr Brown & I had dinner with my mum later in the week, on the Wednesday, we opened a bottle of our mothers-day-special wine.
Roo, I used to get that look a lot too, especially when I was still at school - but when you see and hear so many people going to see their mums out of "duty", looking glum and dumping her as soon as lunch is over, you really have to wonder why they bother. Next time say " I eat babies and kill kittens for fun" instead - see what their faces do then ;)
