Meatloaf ...
... it's terribly old fashioned but my how I do like a good meatloaf. I made one (bacon wrapped) for dinner on Saturday night, with mashed potatoes and (proper, from scratch) brown-onion gravy. Mmmmm, I've just eaten the last knobby end bit, cold, for lunch.

I first experienced meatloaf at boarding school. At first, I wouldn't eat it on principle.
Then I discovered it was quite tasty.
Hmmm. So now...when I feel a bit homesickie and emotionally spent, I like to think that I might be able to knock up some meatloaf. Then I remember that the kitchen and I have a lifelong anti-social pact. Then I forget that I wanted meatloaf and I go and cook up some spaghetti. Or a roast chicken.
mmmm. Comfort food :)
Try sticking a boiled egg in the middle. It's the central part of my nan's recipe.
Mr Bear, yes that's a regular variation at the Brown Mouse House, yummo.
