... about the home delivery being the only good bit of yesterday's travels through the 7th circle of hell.
All arrived this morning, bright and early, with the only glass item amongst it ... smashed!
Edited to Add - So, Mr Brown rings Ikea and asks about a replacement. He's told there should be some more in on Saturday. It will "take a couple of days", for a pick up, replacement. It's suggested it would be faster if he came in and picked it up himself. No, one will not be put aside for us.
I feel a VERY STRONGLY WORDED LETTER coming on ...

smashed? oh crapulence, after all you went thru too. ring them and ask for another to be shipped to you, FOC. if they say no, cry. it works for me every time.
well. it does over here anyway. let me know how you get on. if they don't send you another at no cost, i'll ring from here - and cry on your behalf.
that'll confuse them!
Mr Brown rang, he's got to go pick it up, and no, they won't even put one aside for us - utter, utter bastards.
Hi -
We've never tried the home delivery service because it is exorbitantly expensive around here.
And our only returns were small and handled politely and promptly.
Maybe we shop at a magically enchanted IKEA???
So sorry this is frustrating the daylights out of you both. I hope the end result makes you very happy.
Hang in there...

Lee - we live within the magical 10km circle of Ikea (1st circle of hell perhaps?), it only cost $40. Mr Brown NOW says he had thought about bringing the glass door home himself but ... didn't!!
I think at the very least you should drop off the broken glass at IKEA when you pick up the new one.
E - it will take all Mr Brown's strength to stop me THROWING the broken glass ;)
