... That in the USofA you can walk into a Tiffany & Co shop and say, I'll have one of your Elsa Peretti Bean pendants for my beloved. Medium bean please, on an 18" chain if you would, for that is her heart's desire! And you could walk out of the shop with exactly that. While here in Australia, you would be told, "the medium bean only comes with a 16" chain".
You could try arguing that the website clearly shows a medium bean with 18" of lovely chain, but to no avail. Simply NOT available in Australia.

H&B, so it turns out that yes, they can add the extra links, but Mr Brown was only told that after 3 phone calls to me from the shop at the point where he was about to walk away - empty handed (having been told by a slightly teary me that if I couldn't have that I wanted nothing at all - I really must learn to deal with disappointment a little less emotionally).

It's the same with jeans. In the excited states, you not only buy your jeans by waist size, but also by length.
Is it just indifference to customer service?
Mr Bear, I thought that was always the case for boys, that it was only girlies who suffered the pants 6 times too long thing.
I'm not sure it's indifference to customer service, since most are quite nice to you, the customer, they've just found that we'll buy whatever they sell, so why bother getting in the extra stock? Perhaps we customers should become more demanding.
We just don't have the populace of the States. AB always stocks up on lovely Brooks Bros workpants made to his exacting size and height, and jeans, off the shelf, to those same exacting measurements.
I haven't been over for years, but will be stocking up next year, mark my words.. the suitcase will be EMPTY on the way over ..
Most excellent planning Ms H&B, if I ever wander over I'll certainly be buying a lifetime's worth of jeans that fit!
