Schools of thought ...

... Mr Brown informed me the other day that he was chatting with the fellow who lives at the end of the street and, during the conversation; this fellow ventured an opinion about maintaining marital harmony – “happy wife, happy life”.
Mr Brown apparently said he was more of a follower of the “treat em mean, keep em keen” school of marital relations.
Who does he think he’s kidding???

Hi -
Never heard the "mean - keen" one before!

We're rather fond of: "If Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!" which is sometimes amended with: "If Papa ain't happy, don't nobody care!"

I do reassure Chuck/Papa that I really do care!

Oh he's dreaming alright, the daft bugger.
The happy momma is rather like Mr End of the Street's idea.
Girls, we need to be kept happy.

Mr. Brown, you're so funny.

I prefer the nice approach, but typically I find that nice guys finish last...

Until I prove that fallacy false, I'm kinda with Mr. Brown.

Don't be fooled by Mr Brown's bolshie posturing UK, he’s really as nice a can be – otherwise I’d not have bothered sticking around all this time. I’ve never liked mean boys, they make you cry. Nice blokes are the winners in my book, they make you laugh and want to come home every evening. That’s not to say I like spineless, nancy-boy, yes men, oh no, they are the ones who finish last.
Here endth my rant ;)

Indeed. Nice guys are not doormats. Doormats finish last, but that's the case with both men and women.

Woot woot for the nice guys!!

Aww Heck, you're probably right! I don't have the heart to be mean and generally end up being too nice. In the last two weeks, I have lost almost $1000, almost got a good friend in hot water, and almost spent last night on the couch - That all said, it is actually turning out quite nicely!

UK - I trust you chose to spend time on the couch - perhaps to spare your beloved from your snores? Glad to hear you only "almost" lost the $1000, that would be bad news indeed.

Well Morgan,

I didn't spend time on the couch, but I did spend it perched on the edge of the bed with the feet of the wife and a one year old against my side. There wasn't much sleeping, and hence not much snoring, so I guess she could score that a win.

On the $1000... it was almost $1000 - $958 and some cents to be more exact. And I did lose it... I thought I was doing the right thing at the time and ended up just causing problems with it. Pity because it would have been a nice chunk of a new triathlon bike, and saved a few hundred self inflicted smacks on the forehead, whilst repeating "I'm an IDIOT!" over and over again.
