Spring planting ...

... all that adding poo & stuff a few weekends certainly paid off - the garden bed was literally seething with worms! So, Mr Brown, armed with his trusty digging stick (also useful for poking dangerous looking things and pointing out stuff) went to work this afternoon. Planting Eggplants,Zucchini, Tomatoes & Marigolds (read something about companion planting recently and figured it couldn't hurt) and salad things (Golden Chard, Rocket & Perennial Lettuce - spinach later I guess, we couldn't find any in wee pots). Oh, and Basil you can't forget the Basil. The Parsley seems to have self-seeded so we didn't need to buy any of that.
What's all that blue stuff you ask - SNAIL KILLER - those bastards are not going to eat my bebe veggies down to wee stubs in the ground - not if I have anything to do with it (when they are older we'll use coffee grounds and beer but when wee & vulnerable I go for the big guns).
The sky has just turned the most exquisite mauve, there's a bit of a chill in the air so I'm off to whomp up some lovely sweet potato soup for tea.

When I come visit Oz in 2009, I will be sure to stop by the Brown house for a fresh salad of home-grown yummys!

Of course - I'll escape the cool winter of So Cal to come have fresh salad in Oz. How fun!
