Mr Brown & I watched the doco Football Chicks on SBS last night. We were expecting a little lighthearted poking fun at the cashed-up bogan vulgarity of footballer's wives and girlfriends (you know, Posh & Becks style).
We were ambushed.
It was scary, actually frightening as well as pathetic & sad. It was anything but funny. Foolish, deluded girls & vile misogynist boys. Mr Brown has always told me there were girls/women out there who wanted nothing but to bonk footballers and would do pretty much anything to get it. I thought he was being a little unkind. He wasn't. This doco had us both squirming uncomfortably, feeling slightly icky.
I even came over all ethical at the end. While I'm quite sure the girls who were interviewed consented, knew it was for public consumption - I'm also sure they gave that consent when they were sober. I'm not so sure their candid-while-under-the-influence comments & remarks & behaviour should have been made public. I feel the girls should have been given the option of asking for some of it to be edited out. It wouldn't have made such a good doco but it also wouldn't have left me feeling I was spying, peeking, watching what I shouldn't be.
Perhaps I'm overly sensitive. Perhaps the girls did say it was ok to show it all (in which case, well they are even more foolish & deluded than I thought).
I'm not saying girls shouldn't get out & enjoy sex, casual bonking is fine & dandy if both parties know what it is and are up for it. I don't believe there should be different rules for men & women.
However, (there had to be a however) I do believe both sexes should be polite, be ethical in their treatment of one another, be kind hearted and, bugger it, be decorous, nay, prudent in public. Licking faces & other bits is fine & dandy but not with an audience. Full stop. There, I'm officially an old prude.
