Something to think about today ...

"But we were born of risen apes, not fallen angles, and the apes were armed killers besides. And so what shall we wonder at? Our murders and massacres and missiles, and our irreconcilable regiments? Or our treaties whatever they may be worth; our symphonies however seldom they may be played; our peaceful acres, however frequently they may be converted into battlefields; our dreams, however rarely they may be accomplished. The miracle of man is not how far he has sunk but how magnificently he has risen. We are known among the stars by our poems, not our corpses."
Robert Ardrey

I don't mind Google's little homage (above), in fact it's rather nice. But I'm still enraged by the McDonalds ANZAC emotional whoring tv ad from a few years back. Those who died did not do so to give McDonalds a marketing opportunity, to sell a few extra hamburgers on ANZAC Day. I can remember being so angry at the manipulation used in those advertisements, wish I'd had a blog then.

Maccas? What did they do? (she asks, adding quickly that nothing would surprise her). I must have been asleep.
Gack, those detestable arches.

had an old guy, clearly a "digger" having a coffee, maccas girl refils, saying it's free today & he says thank you. "No" says maccas girl, "thank you".
Now I'll admit to tearing up when I saw it but it made me so cross, to have that evil AMERICAN company manipulating my emotions so - really cross!!!!!!!!!! (see how cross,10 !s).

Crumbs. Yes. I note your crankiness, but fair enough too.

I dint know Maccas even did that. Perhaps that's when I was living in Qld and in my "refusing to watch TV" stage....

And I think it is nice that Google Oz have the Flanders Poppy thing going on with their logo.

I refused to watch the ad whenever it came on, I'd leave the room in protest. I too like the google poppies, quite, dignified, respectful, nice.
